I am a member of the European Parliament. Since the elections in June 2009 I have been, together with my colleagues from the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), a member of a new European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) group.

I am a member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development and a substitute to the Committee on Budgets. I am also a member of a Delegation for relations with Israel and a member of Delegation to the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly.

My conviction is that a democratic nation-state is and remains to be the primary building block of the European architecture. The legitimacy of the European Union is founded on this idea and any attempts to move toward a different legitimacy would heavily impair the sovereignty of the member states. I do not wish for such a development to take place and will never support it with my vote.
